Harvest

£85.00

By Mima Chovancova
Digital photocollage / archival giclee print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag
Limited edition of 5
42cm x 23.8 cm

“Harvest” was inspired by the recent Pink Super Moon. It is believed to symbolize rebirths, letting go of situations and patterns that no longer serve us and making room for new beginnings, reaping what we sowed. At the moment, everything is changing and nothing will be the same. Maybe that’s not a bad thing. I made this digital photocollage as an offering to the Mighty Moon, hoping she would take my forlorn leftovers and give me wings of gold for the new world.

bio:
Mima Chovancova:

Visual artist born in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1990. Living and practising in Brighton, UK since 2009. Obtained a Masters in Fine Art from University of Brighton in 2015.

Growing up in post-socialist Slovakia in the 1990s and being exposed to western toys and MTV has influenced my visual vocabulary and colour sensibility. I compose my pieces as visual colour-poems. My research focuses on the history of Slovak culture, its folklore and mythology and collective identity in the context of artistic expression. Through practice, I reflect on the elements that have shaped my identity and thus attempt to understand myself and others.
