Mel Evans is a freelance artist specialising in figurative artworks.
Mel paints using oils in a predominantly realistic way and takes inspiration from unusual and contrasting light while trying to capture a feel or emotion through a look or expression. Mel has previously completed a series of blind continuous line drawings and circle line drawings in stylised fashion but has more recently been looking at the shadows thrown by bodies and how she can capture a concentrated moment in a shared experience.
Mel spends the majority of her time creating new exhibition pieces but also undertakes private painting commissions. Mel has a BA Hons degree from University Wales Institute, Cardiff in Art & Aesthetics. The course comprised of fine art practice as well as philosophical and art historical theory. The conceptual debates this course stimulated are still current in her work today.
Mel has exhibited in Brighton, London and Cardiff and in addition has organised group exhibitions under the name of Eine Frieda Vintage Ausstellung. Mel lives and works in Brighton.
